Hi, I’m Amy with Iluma Learning, and I am back with one more tip. And we’ve talked about cleaning off our desk, we’ve talked about removing apps and removing notifications from certain apps that we don’t need to know right away when information’s coming through that app. And so shutting those down to give yourself some space and some spaciousness, and also some concentration, because it’s incredible how much our attention is stolen by the amount of digital distraction that’s coming through.
So the same thing goes with cleaning off your desktop and managing notifications on your laptop or your desktop. So finding a way to just take three minutes and go in and just clean off something that is finished that you don’t need on your desktop any longer that you could go ahead and archive or that you could take and delete. What if you got rid of it? If it’s done, if it’s something you want to archive, then take a moment and put it in the cloud. Put it on your network. Put it somewhere where you can access it again, if you think you might ever need it again. But just finding ways to create spaciousness.
So we’re trying to distract ourselves less, and that means having a clean desk environment where I’m going to sit and create cool programming for you. It also is for on my phone so I can find things quickly without scrolling through a bunch of junk or getting distracted by it. And then the same thing on my desktop. Keeping it clean, keeping it organized, and keeping it where things that I access several times a day are right there where I can get it. Otherwise, if it’s finished, I either delete it or archive it somewhere where I’m not looking at it on my desktop all the time. It seems so simple, but we don’t do it because we get used to walking around things and looking around things. And so give yourself a little bit of a moment, just a breather visually, by organizing your desktop.
So how do you, how are we getting prepared and professional just by eliminating stuff that is distracting? That’s really such a big part of being more professional. And so as we look at how we save time, it’s eliminating, eliminating stuff that’s throwing me off and keeping me from being able to focus. So I love this and it’s easy to do. Anybody can do it. You can be standing in line at the grocery store and doing it. You can knock this stuff out pretty easily. So stop this video, turn off this app that you’re looking at this from, and go clean that desktop.
