Body Language
Listen to this lesson
Body language is a key element in effective communication. The minute your audience sees you, your body language can either engage or disengage them. They will make an immediate judgment as to whether you are a credible source of information and if they will be interested in hearing what you have to say. Audience members will look at your body language to interpret if you are telling them the truth, if you are being sincere, and if you truly have confidence in what you are saying.
How your body is communicating with the audience is as important, if not more important, than what you actually have to say! Positive communication through body language can provide clarity and understanding and will put your audience at ease. When interacting with audience members you should:
Face the person/audience you are talking
to in person or on camera
Tilt your head slightly so the person speaking to you understands that you are listening
Mirror the other person’s pose and actions
Look them in the eye
